Monday June 7, 2010

Yesterday for Sunday my famly, Mom, Dad, Vaughan, Lilly, and I all went up to Primary's for the annual Telethon. I was asked to be interwiewed. I was the onle person who did it in my family. No one elts did it. We had to be there at 2:30, but my interview was at 3:00. Everyone told me I did good, so...

When we were done, we went to see the Salt Lake Temple, and Temple Square, and we also got to tour the Tabrnacle. It was so Beautiful. We took many pictures.

When we got home, I cooked some chicken and pineapple on the grill for dinner. It was reaslly yummy! The pineapple tasted like it was from Taconos, and thats my favorite place to eat.

Today has been a really hard day for my mom and I. I am in lots of pain and my mom thinks the house isn't clean, so she has yelled at me, Lilly, Vaughan a few time. She is doing better now, so I hope it stays that way. I try to help, but it is really hard for me to move arouind.

Thursday June 3, 2010 - Great Day

Wow, today was a great day. I got about 7:30 and ate to take my pills, then I went to lay down again. I tryed to help my mom with as much as I could, but it was hard because my legs are really weak. So, around 11:00, my mom, lilly, and I went to cosco for a few things, then we went to five guys to eat. We had to be home around 2:00 to do my medication, so we did that. My mom had to do a few more things, so I told her to just go do that and I could take care of finishing my medication.
While she was out, I got a suprise call from Taylor. It was so cool, and made my whole day. We didn't get to talk for very long, but it was just so amazing to hear his voice. He told me he was doing great and he has to stay in the MTC a little longer because his visa didn't come in. We allso talked about how the family is doing and how i'm doing. I told him we were all doing great. He also asked if we were doing anything this summer, and I told him we would try to do things, but we will have to see how I do with all my treatments and stuff. I told him I was just so happy and so proud of him for being on a mission, and I told hime I love him so much. And that about it. He had to go, and we said goodbye. I love him so much, and I am so proud of him.

Latter, when my mom got home we went to a Cancer Luau Party. It was really fun except for the part when I triped and fell on my face. I fell into the dirt so luckly I didn't hert myself. Now my dad is always watching my every move. Lol! The food at the Luau was really good, and they had fun games to play, and a show at the end. Everything was great today, and tomorrow the family is going to the zoo for another litte party. I'm so excited! Well... That today..:)

Tuesday June 1, 2010 - Hospital Appointment

Today I had a hospital Appointment. It took forever... My dad took me and we got there right on time and the nurses just sat there, and I an appointment for a LP (it's a poke in back that the doctors put medication into me. Chemo.) which I was late for. Then we had to go back upstairs for some chemo in my line, and they didn't have that ready, so we had to wait for that too. But, my dad and I met a really nice mom and her little boy getting some chemo too. He had to get some shots, so I felt bad for him. They were really nice though.

The dive home was really long. Dad and I just listened to radio. When we were almost home, my dad and I stopped at the Purple Turtle. A yummy little fast food restaurant. We got home, Vaughan was playing with my little cousin from Colorado. His name is Robby. We got them pizza for dinner. It was good. So...

Saturday May 29, 2010 - Yep

Today I went to see Shrek. I thought it was so cute. Me, my mom, my dad, and little sister Lilly all went to see it. We had some lunch after, then went home. My mom had to work today, so we needed to be home as fast as possible.

Today my throught has been hurting so bad. I don't know even know why, but I do know I'm not sick. Oh well...

Thursday May 27, 2010 - Big Day

Today I went over to my little sisters school to watch the dance festival. We had to walk. It was really hard for me even though we only live down the street. The elementary school does this dance festival every year. My mom and I ate with her too. They had turkey, ham, and cheese sandwiches. They were good. We also got a couple of books from there little book fair. I got some books that I can read over the summer. I can't wait to read them!

My mom and I went over to the High School after. I needed to turn in my choir rob. We got to see the inside of the new school and it looks and smells a lot nicer then the old school. The old school was really empty. My mom and tryed to pick up my year book, but they said I have to go back next week to get it. I was bummed..:(

When we got home from the High School, my mom took my little brother Vaughan over to get his hair cut. She also got me a pain pill for my legs. The pain pill is helping a lot. Vaughan stayed home from school today and was really lazy. He stayed in bed all day till my mom and I got home from the school. My mom was really mad at him.

I had a pritty good day today..:) I came home and relaxed. I even think my family is going to go see the "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" tonight at midnight. I am existed for that. So... That's my day..:)

Sunday May 23, 2010 - Back Throbbing Pains

I woke up at 4:30am this morning with back pains, so I went down stairs and got a heating pad. That helped a little. The pain has been going on all day. It feels like a throbbing pain. I went to church at 9:00am today, and I am very tired. My back was still throbbing. When my family got home, we got some lunch/dinner. It was really yummy, then we watched a few movies. My back was still throbbing.

Tuesday May 18, 2010 - Today

Today, my mom took me to the hospital for my first round of chemo. It didn't take very long, but we were there for a long time.

On the way home, my mom and I went to the South Town Mall. We ate lunch at one of my favorite places there called Charley's. We got some Ice Cream there too. Yum!! We looked around after that, and that was fun.

When we got home, I helped my little sister with her homework. She was very good about it. I watch a movie after that, then I had some dinner at 5:30. It was good.

Monday May 17, 2010 - Good Day

Today is a good day. I'm not in much pain, but I still need my pain pills. I've been at home all day just relaxing. It's been nice. Today while my mom and dad are at work, I helped my sister do all of her homework, so now she is done. I decided to let her play with a friend because she was so good about it. Lilly was awesome today. Also, I'm so excited to watch a TV show on NBC tonight at 7:00pm called "Chuck". I absolutely love that show! I have never missed a episode. Great show! Lol!

Sunday May 16, 2010 - Not Much To Say

There isn't much to say. . . I am still in lots of pain. I think it's the pills I'm on because it's only my left knee that's hurting. It hurts so bad that I stayed home from church today. I tried using heat, but that didn't work very well, so my dad said to try using a cold pack. I did, and that is working great, but the only problem is it takes forever to get cold again. Oh well, I also use my pain pills ever four hours. That helps a lot too.

Today my family spent a lot of time together. It was great!! We watched many movies together on our new couches with our new TV. It was a nice day.

Saturday May 15, 2010 - Pain

I am in lots of pain today. I have pain pills for my pain, so I have been taking those. Yesterday I went to the hospital for a Port. (A Port is a type of IV line that the doctors will use to put my chemo in.) The Port is under my skin. The doctors will have to poke me a lot. The doctors gave me a few choices, but the Port is what I wanted. :-)

I've been at home all day today resting. I've watched many movies and listened to lots of music. Lol! :-)

This last Thursday, two girls from my Choir class came to my house. I was so supprised when they gave me a new Ipod Nano and Itunes Cards with a notebook signed with everyone in my Choir class. I gave those girls the biggest hug I could give them. I was completly supprised!!

That is how I'm doing today and this week. Good! :-)

Tuesday May 4, 2010 - Good Day

Today was a good day!! My dad took me to the Hospital for my last Radiation Treatment. Yeah!! Now I'm done. (For now.) The Doctors said I might have to do some more, but I don't know.

On the way home, my dad took me to one of my favorite places to eat. The Dairy Keen. Yum!! It was so good. I ate a lot. I had 4 pieces of Chicken Fingers and a Chocolate Milk Shake. Yum!!

When we got home, my mom was putting a CINCO DE MAYO box for Taylor. It means the Fifth of May. It's a Holiday celebrated here in the United States, but it sounds like it's a Spanish Holiday.

That how my day has been. Good!

Wednesday April 28, 2010 - Just Another Day

Today has also been a rough day... I had a really fast check up, and was good. Mom and dad got me some food from the Dairy Keen. Yum!! I loved that! We didn't get home till 2:20.

When I got home, I got the cramps again... They still hurt.

It's been a really cold day, so mom is going to cook chili for tonight. Yum! I love food! I can't seem to stop thinking about food. ELDER TAYLOR AUSTIN

4/27/2010

Thank you so much for the Birthday Card! It was great! I wish you could have celebrated it with me, but I know your in a better place. My birthday party wasn’t very big at all, I only invited 6 people. We went to the Brick Oven to eat, then went home, watched a movie, and had a yummy chocolate ice cream cake. Oh… and also opened presents. I got one of those Mini Acer Laptops. It is so cool! I can’t wait to show you what it looks like! Nothing too big though. Lol!! J It was a busy day for me.

Lilly’s birthday party was also fun. I helped mom and dad with it. She went to Classic Skating for her party. That was fun, but I didn’t skate. They got pizza there, and ice cream. I thought the pizza was better then the Pirate Island pizza. Lol!! J Her party was on Saturday. It was fun!

School… Yeah, I’m not going to school right now. I’m really weak. I even have a hard time getting up the stairs, so I have mom or dad get my work from the school and bring it home for me. I don’t have straight A’s right now. Oh well. Lol! J At least it’s close to the end of the year.

How’s things going for you? I got to see some of your pictures. You look great! You could be a model. Lol! J How’s the food? I can’t seem to stop thinking about food. I’m always hungry because of the pills I’m taking. I got to go to Tucanos on Monday. It was so good. Mom and dad brought me. We went after the radiation at lunch time because it’s cheaper. I think I ate more then them both together. Lol! J

Keep up the good work Taylor! Your doing great! I love you tones!

Love your Sister,

~Emily

PS - Keep sending more Pictures! Lol!! J

Thursday April 22, 2010

Today is my Dad’s birthday. I was so happy for him but I felt sorry that he had to take me up to the hospital. He seemed to have a great time.

My doctor appointment went well. My mask was a bright pink, just like I asked, but before that I had an eye appointment.

The eye doctor said my eyes look sore, but I am doing the right thing.

When we got home from radiation, I took a very long nap. When I woke up my dad was home and we went to Chuck-O-Rama. It was yummy! When we got home I went to bed.

Monday, April 26, 2010

I am having a rough, but good day today. My grandparents took me to the hospital. The treatment didn't take very long, but the drive did. Grandma and grandpa thought it was great how fast and easy it is.

They dropped me off at home, and I called my mom. Last week on my birthday, my mom, dad, and I made a reservation to the Tucanos Brazilian Grill. It was so good. I even think I ate more then my mom and dad.

On the way home from the resturant, my hands, legs, neck, and back started to cramp up. My mom and dad called the doctors, but they didn't answer. I decided to use heat on it, but it didn't work very well. I'm still cramped up and useing the heat.

I am trying to get my mind off of the painful cramps, but it is really hard. My cramps hurt really bad.

I am excited for tonight! My mom and dad said for family home evening, we are going to my grandparents house for a cook out and a horse ride. I don't think I will do the horse ride, but I will eat the food. It will be great!

April 21, 2010 – Letter from Taylor

Happy Birthday Emily!!! I can ‘t believe this, I’m gone for 2 ½ weeks and you go and turn 17 on me. This is REDICULAS! I hope you have an amazing day! You’re the best Emily!

So how has it been driving my car / scooter? Are you tearing it up, getting ready for Nascar? I love you so much Emily!

So how’s school & everything? Been going great hopefully. You’re probably still making the rest of us look bad with your strait “A’s”

Guess what they give you here to work out with? Basicly it is a water balloon launcher and they tell you to workout with it. Well, we (my district and I) thought it would be fun to see what we could should with it. So we shot this kids candy… It was so funny when it stuck to the door. Then we decided to try and shoot quarters and see if we could get them to stick in the door. They went pretty far into the door but didn’t stick, it bent and twisted the quarter so much they wont fit in the vending machines. So we shot a ton of other stuff too.

They have a ton of golf carts here so we thought it would be fun to move a couple, it was pretty sweet.

Well you better tell me all about home! I hope you have an amazing birthday Emily! I love you!

-Taylor Austin

Wednesday April 21, 2010

Radiation went great for the first time, but it has a really bad taste in the mouth to it. The treatment didn’t take long at all, my Mom and I were in the hospital for only 15 minutes, then we were done. The drive up took much longer.

On my way home my mom stopped at my favorite food place, “The Dairy Keen” in Heber City… Yum!! I get the same thing every time we stop there. (Chicken strips, fries and a shake).

When we got home I had a head ache. It was just like they said. My Mom and I also went to a few stores to see if we could find a few things for “Teacher Appreciation Day” at my sister’s school. Then I watched a few movies and went off to bed.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Today my parents got a call from the hospital saying I needed to get up there. My Dad told me that the doctors want me to start radiation on my head. I was told that I would feel tired and have a head aches. They told me I would loose my heair. I was upset when they told me that part. They said I would have to do radiation every day for a few weeks except on the weekends. The Doctors also had me make a mask for the radiation.

When we got home, my dad got me a yummy sandwich. I also watched a few movies, then went to bed.

Monday, April 19, 2010

I slept in till 11:00am today. I’m starting to feel really week and tired. My back still hurts and I have a head ache. I went with my mom to a few stores today and also watched some movies. I sat and laid down a lot today I played with my dog, Girty for a little bit. So…

I also looked at my facebook today and saw so many wonderful letters on there. Everyone is so nice! I love them all so much!

My family went to eat after that. We went to Sonic. It wasn’t all that great. When we got home, my brother, mom and I went for a walk around the block with Girty. When we got home, I went to bed.

Sunday, April 18, 2010

I woke up at about 8:00am today. My back was still hurting, so I was trying to decide if I should go to church. I decided I should go.

As I was listening, someone talked about families. He said there are seven things families should do together everyday. They are:

Sit together

Study together

Pray together

Play together

Eat together

Fast together

Work together

I thought that was so cool. I am going to send it to Taylor.

When we got home from church, we had a yummy meal. After that my mom and dad started to fight. They worked it out a half hour later. We watched a funny movie after that. During the movie I wrote a letter Taylor a letter:

Letter to Taylor

Hola Taylor! Como estas? It’s so much fun writing letters to you1 How is everyone there? Good? Taylor…. I love you so much, and I am so proud of you! You are the best big brother a girl can have. I love you so much!

End Letter

After I wrote my letter, my dad took me on a scooter ride. It was FUN! We went to my grandparent’s house after that. I saw my little cousins.

At 9:00 my dad took us home, then we went to bed.

Saturday, April 17, 2010

I had a great day today! Today I went to the “Hope Kids” movie. We watched the movie “How to Train Your Dragon.” It was really cute

Hope Kids is a program that gives any child that goes through any hard thing hope. Hope Kids has a movie every month and it is free. They are always trying to get as many people as possible to join the program.

After the movie, we brought my cousins Jake, Lindsay and Mackay back to our house. I watched the kids for a little bit. They had fun.

When my dad got back, we went over to the school’s park. Vaughan was with us too, and girty. Girty is so cute! We had lots of fun.

When we got back home, my dad took my cousins home. Later, my dad got me stake. The Stake was really yummy. I ate the whole thing. I also watched the rest of “Anne of Green Gabbles.” It is a really cute show.

I got ready for bed after that and then my mom and I watched “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.” I fell asleep.

Thursday, April 16, 2010

I went to the hospital again for Chemo therapy in my spinal fluid. They also checked to see if the leukemia was in my bone marrow. They put me t0 sleep for it. Later that day I found out that it wasn’t in my bone marrow. When I woke up, I didn’t feel well. I was sick to h whole way home. I ate a few hours later and felt better, but my back was hurting so bad. I took one of my pain pills for it.

I asked my Dad later if he could get me some candy from the store. He did, then we went to Hogi Yogi to get me some frozen yogurt. It was really good. Yum! We go Lilly and my cousin. Lindsey after that. They had a sleep over.

We came home and I watched a movie that my Mom rented from the Library. She rented Anne of Green Gabbles. I watched that till midnight but I didn’t finish it. I went to bed with my dog Girty and my Dad.

Thursday, April 15, 2010

This last week on April 7th, my brother went into the MTC. He was called to the Tampico, Mexico mission. I miss him here at home. I love him so much.

About a month ago I told my parents my eyes were bothering me. My parents wanted me to be looked at by some of my doctors at PCMC. (Primary Children's Medical Center.) I had to do many tests. Yesterday, my doctors had me do a Spinal Tap. The Spinal Tap tested me spinal fluid to see if my cancer came back. My doctors put me to sleep and pocked me in my back.

So... Last night I was sitting on the couch watching TV when I saw my mom walk out of the office crying. I asked my dad what was wrong and in response he said, "I think you know."

My cancer came back again. This is my fourth time going through this, but the Leukemia didn't come back in my bone marrow this time, well... at least I don't know yet. It came back in my spinal fluid. My doctors said they want to start as soon as possible. I can tell my mom and dad are worried, but I try to keep their minds off of it.

So... Taylor is in the MTC and mom and dad want to tell him, but they don't know how, so this morning I wrote him a letter:

ELDER TAYLOR AUSTIN
Hola! Como estas? Esta teniendo un gran momento? Lol! From the letter mom got from you, it sounds like you are having a great time. I'm so proud of you.
Your companion sounds like he is a great guy. Say "Hola" for me. Como es tu espanol? Es dificil? Es facil? Lol!
Well... Mom and dad told me that before you left, you knew I was having a few tests done up at the hospital. Mom and dad are having a hard time trying to tell you this, they think you should know. My test yesterday (Wednesday, April 14th) found out that I have Leukemia again. I just want to let you know that you don't need to worry. I love you so much, and I am so proud of you for being in the mission field. You are a wonderful missionary, and you will do amazing things.
Lots of Love,
Your Sister Emily!!
